Holiday Swag Clue #3
Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate
US Terminology
Colors:

While this can be done in 1 color, I recommend at least 2. Because row 4 has a peek-a-boo effect with row 5 showing behind it.

I used 4 colors with a repeat of color 1 for the medallions because I have white walls.

Color 1: Gold
Color 2: Cranberry
Color 3: White
Color 4: Frosty Green
Medallion: Gold

Materials

As I said, you can use crochet thread, sport, dk or worsted weight yarn. And what ever appropriate hook size you want as long as it is suitable for your yarn. I would not recommend chunky or bulky yarn for this project though.

I used:
Worsted Weight Yarn in a variety of brands. *decent size left overs from my stash*
A 4 mm/G hook

The following stitches are used in this pattern:

Stitches Used Abbreviation
Chain stitch - ch
Chain Space - ch sp
Single Crochet - sc
Half Double Crochet - hdc
Double Crochet - dc
Treble (triple) Crochet - tr
Double Treble/Triple Crochet - dbtr
5 Double Crochet Popcorn Stitch - 5dcpc
Front Loop Only - FLO
Back Loop Only - BLO
Picot - pic
Triple Picot Cluster - 3piccl
Slip Stitch ss

Pattern Note:

* Unless otherwise noted; chain 1 or other turning chain counts do not count as your first stitch .

* This project is worked from the top to the bottom. So you will always be looking at it upside down. Rotate it to get a view of what it will look like when it is hanging.

Row 5: Color 3 Working in the BLO
Row 5 will be worked in the free loops that were left when you worked the BLO of row 4. And will partially show through your ch 3 loops made on the last row. This is why I recommended a color change for this row. You will find it easier to see what you are doing if you hold the chain 3 loops forward and downward as you work.
If you haven't already done so Ch 3 and turn. Ch 3 also counts as a stitch.
Starting Pattern Set: Dc in the next 9 stitches (which should bring you directly to the right of the pc stitch. Tr 5 into the closing ch 1 of the pc stitch from row 3. Getting the 1st one in can be a bit of a tight fit. But it gets easier from there. Dc in the next 10 stitches.
Repeating Pattern Set: *Dc in the next 10 stitches, 5 tr into the closing ch 1 of the pc. Dc in the next 10 stitches.* Repeat * to * as necessary to complete the row.
Change to Color 4. Ch 1 and turn.

Row 6: Color 4

Starting Pattern Set: Sc into the same as the ch 1. *Ch 3, skip 2 stitches, hdc into the next. Ch 3, skip 2 stitches, dc into the next. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches, tr into the next. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches, dbtr in the center stitch or 3rd st of the 5 tr group. Ch 3, skip 2 stitches, tr into the next dc. Ch 3, skip 2 stitches, dc in the next st. Ch 3, skip 2 stitches, hdc into the next. Ch 3, skip 2 stitches, sc in the next stitch. *
Repeating Pattern Set. Sc into the next stitch. Repeat * to * as necessary to complete the row.
You've now completed the bulk of your swag and it's time to move on to the decorative parts. So weave in those tails if you didn't do it while you worked your way though the previous clues.
The next clue will be released tomorrow. See you then!
